The Destination and Economy Team at Ballina Shire Council is here to help your business thrive as part of the Ballina Coast and Hinterland visitor economy.

Our primary role is to market the destination as a whole,  showcasing the unique experiences, landscapes and communities that attract visitors to the region. We work with local operators, regional partners, and state and national organisations to promote our destination, grow visitation, and strengthen the local tourism industry. Whether you’re looking for advice, marketing opportunities, visitor servicing support, or help navigating the industry, we’re your first point of contact.

What We Do for Your Business

  • Marketing the destination through always-on digital activity, seasonal campaigns, and coordinated media engagement
  • Supporting local operators with tailored advice, resources, and collaborative marketing opportunities
  • Delivering visitor services including a seven-day Visitor Information Centre, Ballina Byron Gateway Airport Visitor Kiosk and online bookable product via Bookeasy
  • Collaborating with regional and state partners to secure funding, deliver campaigns, and keep our destination competitive and visible

  • Tourism Australia

    They drive global demand for Australia as a destination and offer resources on international markets and trends.

  • Destination NSW

    Delivers state-wide marketing campaigns, major events and funding programs to drive visitation and support the growth of regional tourism.

    Can assist with: product development initiatives, access to research and industry insights, and event development opportunities through the Regional Event Fund (subject to available funding rounds).

  • Destination North Coast

    Coordinates destination management for the region and works closely with local government, tourism organisations and operators. They deliver the regional Destination Management Plan, advocate for infrastructure, and support industry development.

    Can assist with: letters of support for grant funding, research and insights, industry development initiatives, and opportunities through their regional business events program.
