Live Sound Performance with Home School Achiever

Home School Achiever presents a free, live sound performance to accompany and extend their exhibition Food and Drink on display at the Northern Rivers Community Gallery.

Using recordings of food preparation and other domestic sounds, spoken passages from science-fiction texts, and improvised electroacoustic textures, the performance layers and transforms these materials in real time. The result is an evolving soundscape that moves between the everyday and the unfamiliar, inviting the audience to experience the installation as both a sensory environment and a speculative, otherworldly space.

Home School Achiever is the collaborative practice of Bundjalung/Lismore-based visual artists Betty Russ and Michael Donnelly. Working across sculpture, painting, installation, sound, and embodied research, their work explores a shared interest in science-fiction and horror through the lens of contemporary critical theory, constructing ambiguous material narratives of speculation and imagining that offer a space for interpretation.
