ReWear Ballina Workshop: Hemming and Basic Sewing Techniques

Rediscover the joy of slow fashion with this hands-on ReWear Ballina workshop led by local designer Mimi Holvast. Perfect for beginners, this two-hour session will give you the confidence to use a sewing machine and the know-how to give your favourite garments a second life.

In a relaxed and friendly setting, you’ll learn how to professionally hem your clothes, as well as essential techniques like sewing French seams and creating elastic casings. You’ll walk away with practical skills to help you repair, reimagine, and love your wardrobe for longer.

What to bring:
Up to two simple woven garments (like pants, skirts, dresses or tops) you’d like to hem or adjust.
A sewing machine, if you have one — if not, don’t worry, they’ll have some available to use.

This is a small group experience with a maximum of 15 participants. Adults only 18 years and over.

Whether you’re travelling through or calling Ballina home, this workshop is a great way to tap into the region’s creative spirit, connect with like-minded makers, and leave with new skills and a sense of achievement — not to mention beautifully hemmed clothes!
