Water Stories & Soundtrail Walk

Be guided by Uncle Ricky Cook, Nyangbal Elder, along the Water Stories walk. The walk takes you along the north break wall, around Shaws Bay and onto Fawcett Park. You read and hear stories of how water, or guung in the Nyangbul language, shaped Country, as well as the way of life of Aboriginal families and Ballina’s earliest settlers.

You can enjoy the Water Stories in two ways.

Take the signposted Water Stories Walk between Fawcett Park at Ballina town centre and the Marine Rescue Tower on North Wall, East Ballina (4.5km one way).

You can also experience the walk by listening to the Water Stories Soundtrail. Just scan the QR code on the signs to hear the Soundtrail, which will take you on a shorter walk that starts at the Marine Rescue Tower and ends at the Pioneer Memorial Park (1.4km one way).
