Short Term Holiday Letting (STHL) has become an increasingly significant sector within the tourism industry. For some STHL increases the appeal of destinations whilst providing employment opportunities both directly through accommodating visitors and through the jobs created by increased visitation to the area.
For others it may be the vehicle that enables them to remain in the area or their residence. On the other hand, others may have been impacted negatively through increased rental prices, reduced availability of rental accommodation or issues related to having a short-term holiday letting property in their vicinity.
As a result, in 2019 Destination North Coast (DNC) through Southern Cross University (SCU) have facilitated research into this subject for all LGA’s within our region. Attached here is the report for the Ballina Shire Council
