Brunswick Picture House presents The Wake!

Smash hit musical ‘The Wake’ returns to Brunswick Heads Picture House after a sell-out season last year.

‘The Wake’ is an original musical about the days when The Brunswick Heads Fishermen’s Cooperative was at the heart of Brunswick Heads. It’s an evening of singing and storytelling about the drama, tragedy, humour and romance of prawn trawling life on the dangerous Brunswick bar.

Writer and director, Ollie Heathwood, has written the songs with Musical Director Jude Magee, Annie Wylie, Ashleigh Dallas and Luke O’Shea. The dialogue and lyrics were developed from interviews with fishermen, Co-op workers and their families.

A talented ensemble of 16 musicians, singers and actors performed ‘The Wake’ in June 2024 to sold out audiences. Despite adding an extra show, ‘The Wake’ sold out quickly and many people were disappointed to miss out. The cast and crew will bring the show back to the Brunswick Picture House for one weekend — 22nd to 24th August — this year.
