Ballina to nightcap national park - waterfall trail

Ballina to Thursday Plantation
Depart the Ballina Visitor Information Centre heading south down River Street. Turn right at the second round about at Cherry Street which turns into Bangalow Road, then Tamarind Drive. Follow Tamarind Drive, past the signs to the Ballina Byron Gateway Airport and turn right onto Gallans Road to visit Thursday Plantation. Thursday Plantation is both the brand for essential oil products and the original home of Tea Tree. A place where visitors are encouraged to discover the magic of natural therapies in a rainforest garden, sculpture park and Tea Tree maze. Perfect place to sample the products, purchase at factory outlet prices and watch footage of how the business grew from humble beginnings to the major brand it is today.
On to Killen Falls
From Gallans Road, turn right back onto Tamarind Drive. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit and stay on Tamarind Drive. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit and stay on Tamarind Drive. Follow this road for approximately 4km, then turn left on Tintenbar Road, then the first right onto Friday Hut Road. Follow for approximately 3km then turn right onto Killen Falls Drive. At Killen Falls enjoy a stroll along the boardwalk, offering a viewing platform located on the top of a cliff overlooking Killen Falls. Take a picnic to the Rous Reserve picnic area and enjoy the beautiful sounds of the natural waterfall.
Killen Falls to Federal
Turn right back onto Friday Hut Road for 3km, then turn right again to stay on Friday Hut Road for another 5km. Turn left onto Bangalow Road, travel for approximately 1km then turn right onto Binna Burra Road for 9km until you come to Federal, a quaint little village now becoming a popular place to enjoy the country lifestyle and home to Federal Doma Cafe, which serves up some of the best Japanese fare in the region. Seating is mostly outside aside from a small traditional Japanese doma room. Make sure you pop next door to Moonshine Coffee where you can see coffee being roasted and book your exclusive Ultimate Coffee Fix.
Federal to Minyon Falls Lookout
With a full belly head Northeast on Federal Road for 4km. Turn left on to Repenctance Creek Road for approx 4.5km then turn right onto Coopers Creek Road. Follow along then turn left on to Minyon Falls Road for 2.5km then turn left again onto Minyon Falls Loop Road. Park the car and a short stroll will take you to the awe-inspiring views of the waterfall and rainforest.
