Centred on an island at the mouth of the Richmond River, Ballina is the social and commercial hub of the region, loved for its relaxed seaside location and mixture of both river and surf beaches. A playground for beach lovers, surfers, boaties, anglers and eco-adventurers.

Ballina has a rich naval and maritime history and was also an important settlement along the Richmond River for cedar getters. Today Ballina is a bustling centre where you can enjoy all the modern conveniences of a cosmopolitan town, plus escape to the beach or river.

Ballina is an area blessed with natural beauty and brimming with things to see and do... visit the Ballina Naval and Maritime Museum, enjoy a scenic cruise on the Richmond River; journey the teaming wetlands of North Creek by kayak or thrill to the annual migration of the humpback whales from any of the coastal headlands. The fishing at Flat Rock and Angels Beach is legendary and, if you wet your line at dawn from Ballina's North or South Walls, you're in for a breakfast feast!

Ballina's shared path and cycleways offer a leisurely stroll, or cycle with the chance to explore the river and ocean foreshores. North Wall is perfect for dolphin and pelican watching and also the spectacular sight of fishing trawlers cruising out for their evening catch. It's even more breathtaking at sunset!

Try disc golf at Bicentennial Gardens nine basket course or go take a tour of the historic Ballina Manor.
