Pipe Organ Duet
Sunday, 27 August 2023
Time: 3pm - 4:30pm
Category:
Two musicians, four hands, four feet play one instrument! Organists Marius Mulder & Hamsa Arnold present German and English organ works.
The programme opens with a German Romantic Fantasy in three movements composed by Adolph Hesse presenting St Mary's pipe-organ in its rich and full sound. A special virtuosic feature is the organ arrangement of the 1st movement from Mozart's Symphony in G-minor. The English composer David Briggs wrote a set of Variations on the well known chorale 'Veni Creator Spiritus' including a variety of contemporary and traditional styles. Watch out for the variation composed like a Bach two part invention but played just with 4 feet.
Hamsa and Marius also perform solo works by J.S.Bach (Prelude&Fugue F-minor) and Barie (French Toccata). The concert concludes with 'Variations on an Easter Theme' and 'Elegy and Festive Bells' by John Rutter.
Tickets at the door: $20 / $15 concession, children free
